How to prompt Kav
What to put in a request so Kav can plan, assign and check the work, with examples.
Kav is the lead agent you talk to. This page shows what to put in a request so Kav can plan the work, assign it and check it.
Where to ask
Type every request in the one message box. Kav attaches it to the task it belongs to and continues with that task's context.
What to include
- The outcome.
- Where the result goes: a file, a pull request, or a message in Slack or Lark.
- When it runs: once, on a schedule, or when something happens.
- What done looks like. Kav turns this into the checklist.
- What needs your approval. By default, anything that leaves the workspace waits in Approvals.
Examples
| Vague | Specific |
|---|---|
| "Look at our errors." | "Every morning, go through yesterday's PostHog session replays that hit an error, find the cause in our GitHub repo, open the fix as a pull request and post it to Lark." |
| "Summarize Hacker News." | "Every weekday at 9, pick the 3 front-page Hacker News posts most relevant to AI agents, skip anything older than 24 hours, and write a 5-line TLDR to reports/hn-ai-tldr.md." |
| "Keep an eye on releases." | "When a pull request merges to main, check that sign-up still works end to end, and tell me in Slack if it doesn't." |
| "Make the report better." | "Change the TLDR workflow so each line starts with the post's title." |
| "Be more careful." | "Add a checklist line: every link in the TLDR opens." |
What Kav handles
- Plans the job and tracks each task on your board.
- Assigns an agent to each task, and creates one when none fits.
- Connects the apps the job needs. You sign in when asked.
- Sends work that misses the checklist back for another attempt.
- Posts anything that needs you to Approvals.
Autonomy
| Setting | What Kav does |
|---|---|
| Supervised (default) | Asks before anything leaves the workspace |
| Autonomous | Signs up for the services a job needs and posts for you, asking the first time |
| Every setting | Asks before any payment or destructive action |
Corrections
Reply in the same box. The correction joins the task. On a workflow, it creates a new version.
