Refine the output
Look at one real run, comment on what to change, and repeat until the result has the shape you need.
The fastest way to get an agent's output into the shape you need is to look at one real run and comment on it until it matches. This page covers that loop and what to comment on.
Problems this solves
| Problem | What Kavela does |
|---|---|
| The output is almost right, but not quite | You see a real run before anything is scheduled, and each comment goes back to the agent that did the work |
| You have to watch every step | Only the steps that need you wait, as cards in one Approvals inbox |
| A correction you made last week is forgotten | On a workflow, every correction becomes a new version, and its checklist holds every later run to it |
In Stack Overflow's 2025 developer survey, the biggest single frustration with AI tools, cited by 66% of developers, was "AI solutions that are almost right, but not quite".
The loop
- Ask for one run. "Do one run of this now and show me what you'd deliver, before we schedule it."
- Read the result. It arrives on the task with its file, screenshots and links. When it needs your decision, it also arrives as a card in Approvals.
- Comment. Type what to change in Anything to add and press Comment. The card closes and the agent picks up your note. It may come back with a revised version for you to check.
- Repeat until the result matches what you need. Then approve it and say when it should run.
What to comment on
| Aspect | Example comment |
|---|---|
| Shape | "Five lines, each one sentence, newest first" |
| Format | "A Markdown file in reports/, with the results in a table" |
| Content | "Skip anything older than 24 hours. Always include the source link" |
| Voice | "Plain and direct. No exclamation marks" |
| Destination | "Post the summary to #ops in Slack, and keep the full file in the workspace" |
| A check | "Add a checklist line: every link in the report opens" |
Comment on one thing at a time when you can. A single, specific change is easier to check on the next run.
The buttons on a card
| Card | Buttons |
|---|---|
| A result to review | Looks good, Deny, or Comment |
| A finished task | Mark as Done, Send it back, or Comment |
| A plan | Start the work, Deny, or Comment |
| An action to confirm | Do it, Deny, or Comment |
| Access to a connection | Grant access or Not now |
| A proposed change to a workflow | Accept the change or Dismiss |
Make it stick
On a workflow, each correction you agree to becomes a new version, and the reviewer checks every later run against the checklist. Add a checklist line for anything you never want to correct again. See Write a workflow.
To compare two versions once each has 10 checked runs, see Manage agents and workflows.
Connect your tools
How agents reach a service, how to ask for a specific kind of connection, and how to keep two accounts on one service, such as a staging and a live key.
Manage agents and workflows
Change an agent's instructions and plan, edit a workflow and its versions, compare pass rates, and pause or remove work.
